GTB Partners Joins Assembly Health Leaders for Shore House Site Visit

The GTB Partners team recently joined Assembly Health Committee Chairwoman Carol Murphy and Vice-Chairwoman Margie Donlon for a site visit at Shore House in Long Branch.

The visit gave lawmakers an opportunity to see firsthand how the Clubhouse model supports adults living with serious mental illness through employment, education, community connection, and other recovery-focused opportunities.

Inside the Shore House Model

Shore House provides community-based support for adults living with serious mental illness and is New Jersey’s first and only accredited Clubhouse.

The Clubhouse model focuses on employment, education, relationships, wellness, and community participation. Members work alongside staff and take an active role in the daily operation of the organization while building skills and connections that support long-term recovery.

Unlike a traditional clinical treatment setting, Shore House operates as a community resource designed to complement psychiatric and medical care while helping members pursue greater independence and stability.

Connecting Policy With Community-Based Care

Murphy and Donlon serve as chair and vice-chair of the New Jersey Assembly Health Committee, which considers legislation affecting healthcare and behavioral health policy across the state.

Site visits give legislators an opportunity to hear directly from organizations about how programs operate, who they serve, and how decisions made in Trenton can affect access to services.

For community-based mental health organizations, those discussions can include funding, workforce needs, reimbursement, program accessibility, and the role of non-clinical services in supporting long-term recovery.
